Brad Chance, our resident scholar, will be leading us in a Bible study - “Paul's Gospel of Radical Resistance”

Paul did not ignore or even downplay the domination systems that exploited economic, political, and military power in Paul's world. Rather he challenged them. We will see how we cannot fully grasp Paul's understanding of the death and resurrection of Jesus, which are central to his gospel, if we do not recognize how these critical features of faith challenged and even subverted the powers that be. And when we recognize that Paul was wrong about one crucial feature of God's displacing the powers of oppression, we are required to think about how we need to step up centuries later.
