a note from Holly We had a lovely time last Sunday afternoon walking around the Anita Gorman Discovery Center. We saw a few birds, learned a bit from our dear Jim Walton (like the middle of the day is not the best time to hear/see birds!), chased Cecilia around-unsuccessfully trying to keep up!

Scripture: Luke 14:25-33 A note from Paula: Oh boy. This passage is a doozy. There are plenty of Jesus quotes that bring peace and comfort, maybe some reassurance in difficult times. And then there's this line from Sunday's passage: "Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even life itself, cannot be my disciple."

A Note from Holly: Once upon a time, I was the pastor of a church where "Back to School Sunday" rivaled Easter as the biggest day. It had fallen off, some, since my childhood days, when all the kids started in the sanctuary for singing and then were "promoted" to our new class with our new teacher.
