Navigating Turbulent Times
a workshop with Shelli & Ben Carman-Brown
Sunday, August 24 at 11:30 am
Peace Church KC (1801 McGee St.)
Starting with Self: What working with students has taught us about navigating turbulent times
Shelli and Ben Carman-Brown have spent most of their 14 years as educators teaching and leading at the Kauffman School in KCMO. In this workshop, they’ll help us practice strategies for self-awareness and intentionality to show up for ourselves and others during seasons of challenge, conflict, and stress.
This is Peace Church’s annual “Healthy Church Workshop” to underline our commitment, individually and as a community, to attend to our physical, relational and spiritual health. We will have lunch and child care available for our Peace kids.
Email WeeklyPeaceNews@gmail.com with the subject line “Workshop RSVP” to let us know if you plan to attend.
Worship Reimagined
Join us on Sunday at 10:30 in person:
1801 McGee Street, Kansas City, MO
And on Zoom:
Delightful, humble, courageous… and fun.
Peace church is an open, progressive community of faith. Our worship is our front door. It’s the way folks come to know us, to know themselves, to know the grace of God who is the generous loving ground on which we stand each day.
Peace Church is an Open and Affirming congregation. As Christians, we joyfully welcome into God’s house all people, celebrating our diversity in race, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identities, gender expression, nationality, faith background, education, and abilities.
What to Expect
Worship at Peace is part family reunion (where there’s always room to set another place at the table!), part musical showcase, and part storytelling master class with an emphasis on relating scripture in a way that resonates with our complicated and busy lives…
Kids & Youth
What we teach our children in church about their place in the world and their relationship to others can leave a profound impression. At Peace, our education program for children enhances the worship experience by teaching children what we believe: in short, that each of us is a beloved child of God and that we are the hands, the feet, the face of God, to one another…
Small Groups
You’ll find lots of opportunities for fellowship with other Peace members. We have several small groups, centered around common interests, that meet at various times and locations.
Justice & Service
Jesus came to live a life on Earth primarily to serve, to include, to welcome, and to lift up all people that society pushed to the margins – and it is our privilege to do so, too. At Peace Church, working for justice and caring for others through service is an integral part of how we worship God…
